IEE has been developing sensor solutions for over 30 years. These sensors have been utilised in the automotive, health and smart buildings sectors. Their experience has led them to build reliable and accurate devices that customers can rely on.
The Anti-tailgating Solution Range
The TDFlex: What does it deliver?
IEE’s Tailgate Detector TDflex™ offers a unique solution that ensures only authorised people can enter a restricted area of any building. By combining TDflex with a new or existing access control system, customers can be sure they’re maintaining safety for their visitors, employees and infrastructure.
The Tailgating problem with Todays Access Control
Today’s access control systems are designed to help control and manage authorised access to secure areas. Ensuring that every individual has properly presented a valid ID, or successfully cleared biometric identification is a major challenge faced by security professionals. Preventing tailgating and piggybacking, in other words misleading or outsmarting the system, is a problem existing solutions do not sufficiently address. With IEE’s TDflex™, businesses can optimise the scheduling of their security staff. As the sensor is fully automated, security staff don’t need to physically monitor access points; they will be alerted if there is a security breach…

Industry Use Cases
Data Centres
Data Centres are critical infrastructure sites that are heavily protected with access controlled rooms, however access control has the same fault all access control has, no verification. Anti-tailgating solutions from IEE are essential for adding an extra layer of protection and verification to all those who enter the area, as well as providing assurances that company policy is followed at all times.
Financial Institution
Financial institutions have valuable customer data, information, cash reserves, and other valuable information. TDFlex and TDExpress solutions ensure that financial institution’s policies and procedures are followed at all times. The solutions prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to private areas, enhancing security and delivering peace of mind to the organisation.
Airports
Airports have many secure zones that lead directly into public spaces, this leaves open a large safety concern for unauthorised individuals having free roam around private areas. The IEE solution offers versatile usability, working with a range of access control systems in use at airports such as mantraps, airlocks, e-gates and turnstiles, providing added security and protection to secure areas.
The Award Winning IEE End-to-End Solution
How does the Solution work and achieve >99% Accuracy?
IEE has developed a 3D sensor that uses MLI (Modulated Light Intensity) technology. This technology is based on the optical time of flight (TOF) principle, where an active, non-scanning light source emits modulated near infra-red light. The phase shift between the light emitted by the source, and the light reflected by the people and objects in the field of view, is measured to create a real-time topographic image of the monitored area. The 3D MLI Sensor™ calculates the exact number of people transiting the detection area, and triggers an alarm when it detects situations such as tailgating or piggybacking.
The TDExpress: The Turnstile/fast-lane Solution
The TDExpress has been specifically made for improved multi-gate monitoring in a variety of environments where card access is mandatory. It helps managers better secure their infrastructure, improve traffic flow through well controlled entrance and exit, maximize sensor-based monitoring while cutting down costs involving additional devices.
Rental Option: For Small and Large Scale Events
You can rent the TDFlex and TDExpress Solutions for events through Bi3’s rental option. Tailgating is dealt with at events such as festivals, city gatherings, and other ticketed events, but this is dependent on staff noticing the problem. Using these anti-tailgating solutions, access control areas can be made more secure and the number of people illegally entering the space can be reduced. The solution can also generate reports that show the number of non-authorized individuals who attempt or successfully enter the venue, providing valuable data for data-driven decision making.
