Charlie has even achieved finalist in the Bibas 2022 Event for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ as well as achieving a young citizen award in 2022. Take a look below at a short personality quiz Charlie (Chaz) Conducted as an industry highlight for the Security Buyer Magazine ‘Into the Cloud Interview’
What does ‘security’ mean to you?
The term ‘security’ is rather broad and can fall into a multitude of divisions, such as financial, personal, physical, national and network. From my point of view I see security as implementing a feature in order to protect an asset. This can range from protecting ones home, to preventing access to unauthorised parties, thus having the overall effect of making you feel more ‘secure’. The Security Industry has a heavy focus on risk assessments and risk management strategies that are used in order to make people feel safer, therefore I think this highlights the importance of security in all walks of life as it is something we are constantly surrounded by.
What made you want to work in the industry?
If I am being honest it is something I had never really considered. However, once I had contact with Bi3 about a job interview I was very intrigued by what they had to offer. I did some research on their website and saw they offered a range of products for The Security Industry which made me inquisitive. Once I had the interview then I was completely convinced by the companies ethos and jumped at the opportunity to work at Bi3. Now I am in the industry, it is going great and I am really enjoying my time here. I love the fact that no day is the same and that our bespoke solutions often engage us in interesting, yet challenging conversations to best fulfil the client’s needs.
If you could talk to your younger self, what would you say?
The first thing I would say is to invest in Bitcoin or to stock up on petrol during lockdown! But if I was going to have an honest conversation with my younger self then I would probably reiterate the things my parents told me when I was growing up. This would be along the lines of to keep working hard and keep a positive attitude even in the face of adversity, as things will always work out in the end. A quote that always stuck with me was to ‘not count the days but make the days count’!
Describe a funny thing that happened to you recently?
I went on the sunbeds for the first time this summer to try and build a base tan up for my holiday, but I ended up being severely burnt for the next week and needing to apply lots of Aloe Vera!.
What three traits define you?
Confidence. Sincere. Loyal.
What’s the most important trend you see today?
The most important trend that I see today is the value of social media. Nowadays everything is driven through social media and this is the main outlet for gaining most of our information. This is an important trend particularly for young people, and its importance is often conflicting as it can be used in both positive and negative lights.
If you didn’t work in the security industry, what would you be doing?
Applying for Love Island (and failing) or trying to pursue a career in Fifa. But realistically I would still be in Sales and probably take after my dad down the avenue of car sales.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your CV?
That my mum has an MBE!
What is one thing you would make compulsory in the office and one thing you would ban?
I would make a WFH/flexible working schedule compulsory and I would ban colleagues bringing in fish for their dinners.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years time I still see myself at Bi3 progressing as both an individual inside and outside of the office. I hope to have made a positive contribution to the company and helped to maintain their aims of bringing about innovative technology within the Security Industry. In terms of my personal life I hope to be happy, financially stable and hopefully watching Blackburn Rovers play in the Premier League.
